Humming/Whirring Noise in first minutes of driving
Hey everyone, I'm getting an odd humming/whirring noise...kind of high pitched during the first 5 minutes or so of driving my 98 TL (after it's been sitting awhile...usually doesn't do it whe the engine has already been driven)...this is when it happens...
1) The first couple of times I slow down...or
2) When I run the a/c right after starting my car.
It goes away after the first couple of times of slowing down or, if my A/C is on, I just turn off the A/C and turn it back on again and it goes away. It's odd and when I take it into the shop, it doesn't make the noise because I've already driven it during the timeframe it does it in.
It doesn't really sound like brakes...and I don't think it is because it does it when the A/C is running and I am just going along without slowing/breaking.
I am taking my car in this week and want to know what is up so that I could better explain to the service people.
Thanks,
C

Is your ABS light coming on when the whirring is going on? Also, aside from the whirring, is there a ticking as well? It could just be a bad battery causing the ABS to keep re-checking itself, or corroded terminals. Try to clean the cables and re-tighten them.
