How hard are the inspire tails to install??

I have them ordered finally. Was curious what to do, or how to do it. Is it very hard and is it time consuming?

Just pop off the plastic screws inside the trunk by the tailights. Once you do that open the plastic cover and look inside. You'll see the tailight and all the wires for the bulbs. There are 3 small bolts (10mm or 8mm, forgot which). Take those off and the tails come right out. Make sure you put them on right and tighten the bolts correctly. You dont want water leaking in. I dont have Inspire tails but I took mine off when I tinted them.

if i remember correctly, my car has 4 bolts. either im wrong or my car's retarded. the installation is easy...i mean the instructions are easy. unscrewing the bolts is probably the hardest thing to do in the process. like i said, i think there are 4 bolts and i remember struggling to unscrew one of the bolts thats deep inside (bottom left and right) of the tails.

another thing, mike... you'll have an extra brake bulb that'll be unused unless you drill a hole into your new tails. thats what i did to mine. you probably already know this but im just telling you just in case you didn't. ill have to take pictures of my car sometime to show you.

TO ALL MEMBERS FROM HOUSTON: Any of you own a yellow (1st gen) TL??? i swear to buddha i saw a yellow 1st gen TL in houston. any of you seen it around yet? LOL i saw it at hcc with my own eyes.. *shaking head* anybody want to do a TL meet in houston? someone want to post it up in the MEET forum?

Hey Mike

Could you let me know when you receive them if you are satisfied with them. Meaning are they actually the Inspire Tails or not. So this way I can get a pair myself.

Thanks in advance!

By the way was that at www.kingmotorsports.com ??

Haha. We'll see. I was gonna take all my stuff out if I trade it in and keep some for my next car. The sidemarkers are gonna kill me though. I'll never do that again. I'm still looking at 1998+ GS's. Love that car...

I guess I'm getting bored. Theres really nothing else I wanna mod. Actually, I want to upgrade the stereo and get chrome wheels, but I dont want to put more money into it. I'm also worried about my car losing value. I figure now is the best time to sell it. I have almost 63K. Once I go up to 70K or 80K, its gonna lose more value. Once summer comes, I put ALOT more mileage. I'm not definitely getting a new car though. My father doesnt want to finance it for me. If I can convince him to do it for me though, I'm gonna go for it. If not, I'll still be happy with the TL for a while longer.

thats what made me stop from modding my TL...i use to own a volvo 760 turbo and put the rims, neon lights, tint, etc. then i was about to put a new HU in it when my mother told me why waste the money cause if you get into an accident, then its all over...that made me think and she was right so i've stopped speding serious money on a car. ive only put tint (gotta have the privacy ), shift knob, and an acura symbol license plate on it, thats about it.

Yeah it depends on what mods you do. The only thing I cant make stock is the fenders because of the STUPID sidemarkers. I WILL NEVER GET THEM AGAIN.

whats wrong with the sidemarkers? i actually thought they were pretty cool looking. how did you do it?...did you actually cut a rectangular hole into the body panel?

once again, his definition of side markers isn't what we are thinking of. what he's refering to is the extra brake light that isn't used in the inspire tails. he calls that extra brake light the "side marker"

i think you have 96TL mixed up with someone else...if you take a look at his sig, his car has actual sidemarkers.

They are cool. Especially the ones I have because they can't get any moisture in them and they're bright as hell. The only bad thing is that I had to cut a rectangular hole through the fenders. That takes away dealer value. Its not worth doing it.

LOL. Why would I say that? I know the difference between a sidemarker and a brake light. Must have been someone else. I dont even have Inspire tails...

96TL, I know where you are coming from the GS 400 is an awsome car. If you can afford one it is way better than a IS 300. The engine is kick-a** out of the box, no real need to mod.

Tell me about it. I'd even be happy with a GS300. I can afford to pay for it every month, my father just wont put it under his name for me. I doubt Lexus will approve a 19 year old for a GS.
