Help with Valve Cover
 

I was told that my valve cover and tude seal needs to be replaced.
My quseation was that is there a DIY on how to do this?

You should be able to go to a local parts store and buy a valve cover gasket set... the tube seals are for the spark plugs that run through the valve cover down into heads.

Basically the valve cover sits on top of the heads and protects the valves... If you have a 2.5 TL, then there will only be one long valve cover... If you have a 3.2 TL, then there will be two valve covers parallel to eachother.

Usually they are bolted down to the head by 10-20 bolts. If you look around the perimeter of the cover you should be able to see these and remove them... there may be several things obstructing the way of the valve cover removing... Possibly even the intake may need to be removed... I'm not really sure... Looking at the engine should give you and idea as to how hard it might be... or look at an exploded diagram on www.acuraautomotiveparts.org

Once you get the valve covers off, you can apply the new gasket and spark plug tube seals... I'm assuming you just have an oil leak, that would be the reason for them to need replacement...

Sorry, this isn't much of a DIY, but should give you a better idea of what needs to happen... I have replaced valve covers on two of my other cars before. Let me know if this helps.

Not much to go wrong on this job. Two points to remember.

1) Sharp corners around camshaft tunnels require a spot of RTV sealant to insure a good seal. Your seal package should have some pics.

2) The tube guides are easy to install upside down and will not seal that way. Guess how I know! The seal open side is installed to the top of the cover. Look at old tube seals to understand.

also, don't drive until the liquid gasket sets..
