Heater acting strange

My heater used to make hot air after say 2 or 3 minutes of driving. These days it takes forever and I'm not sure why. I'll have it set at 90 degrees on the lowest setting (which should make enough heat without roasting me) but to no avail. After 5 or 10 minutes of patient waiting, it'll suddenly get warm for a minute and then go back down to cool air.

Any ideas?

I had similar heater problem since my 2.5 overheated once, air came out hot only when it was accelerating. A guy in the forum suggested air pockets in my radiator, it sounds plausible. My heater seemed fine now because the weather is warm.

I think I'll get a coolant change. Probably needs it. I'll let you know in a few days if that fixes it.

Yeah you need add more engine coolant in the radiator... you don't have alot of coolant in there. when i changed my thermostat i lost a lot of engine coolant and i thought i put enough back!

after i changed my thermostat the car ran fine until i used the heater and I couldn't get any kind of heat out of the vents. I thought i had a deffective thermostat but it turns out that i had to put more engine coolant in the radiator! and after that, the heater worked fine!
