To the experts - tranny fluid level
I changed the tranny filter last week. Car sat on jack stands for a week without the filter and the tranny pan , so it drained out last drop of fluid from the transmission.
I put the filter and pan back on yesterday and put 3 qts. of fluid. The dip stick still is not registering any fluid. Car drives ok, shifts smooth as well.
Do I need to put more fluid? The book says that for a 2.5 TL I would need 2.7 qts.
Any suggestions?

Gravity alone won't get the ATF that is in the torque convertor. But that's a minor issue.
Anyway, make sure your car is level and the fluid is hot before you check. I forget, but I think on Honda (like most cars), the engine should be running when you check.

I will check it tomorrow when the engine is running.

2.7 quarts is the refill amount - the entrie tranny takes about 6.5 quarts I would suggest adding more - before you damage your tranny for lack of fluid - even if you overfill you can drain it later.

I changed my tranny fluid yesterday. It was my frist attempt at changing the fluid. I did everything as per the manual. The last step was to keep adding ATF till the level touched the "Max" marker on the dip stick. I added 3 quarts and the dip stick did not register any fluid at all. So, I added another quart and still no fluid on the dip stick. I did this at a friends place. Anyway, I drove to my place and checked it again this morning. The dip stick showed fluid above the maximum mark this time. I had checked it with the engine off when I was adding ATF. I checked it with the engine off this morning. Will the extra quart of ATF cause any problems? Does anyone have any idea as to why the dip stick did not register the fluid?

Like I mentioned, I added 3 qts, dip stick did not register any even after the car was driven almost 70+ miles.
I will add 1/2 qt today and will see what happenes.
My quest is, will dip stick register any if the car is on a level ground and has not been driven for a while?
