Engine oil leak, 1996 TL 3.2, 169k miles

Hello to all, and greetings from the Chattanooga area.
This is my first post, so here goes...
I'm getting a strong burning oil smell through the vents, mostly at stops. Engine oil must be leaking onto the exhaust system.
I noticed oil dripping from the rear of the engine oil pan. I looked under the hood, and found the front and top of the engine to be dry. I couldn't see much below the tops of the valve covers or between the back of the engine and the firewall.
Are there any commonly known oil leak sources for this engine? Valve cover gaskets? Intake manifold? Engine oil pan?
Thanks in advance for any help or info.

check the oil pan if its on tight, oil filter.. maybe its not screwed on tight enough or doesnt have a washer, possibly the drain bolt also check that. it its lose the oil will spray all under your car while at speeds then at a stop there wouldnt be any air to remove the smoke thats why it would only smell at a stop. good luck check them out!

Thanks, Andrew, for the response. I did an oil change last weekend, and I know the filter and drain plug are tight. I will check the oil pan bolts as per your suggestion. Thanks for the input!

I would check between the engine and trans., also the distributor. I got some leaks too; but nothing too bad. Gaskets tend to go bad after so many years and miles...nothing abnormal.

How would the oil pan bolts come loose?
