DIY: Solid Bumper Blinker

This is a new mod that I did today. As some of you know, I do not have bulbs in the corners of my bumper lights. I have thought about this since last year when I took the bulbs out of my corner lights.

This makes the car look nicer IMO.

DIY write-up will come tomorrow.

For now, here is a video.

I ordered bulbs to match the turn signals. Hopefully this will be a path for a new mod for all of us. Enjoy!

What about parking lights? Are you going to set them to stay on with them, then turn off for the turn signal? I've been meaning to do that, but I've been lazy, haha!

~Cheers~

This and the sidemarkers would be a nice addition to your car.

DIY: Solid Bumper Blinker

Tools needed:
- 10mm socket + ratchet
- Wire cutters
- Pliers
- Wire taps
- Electrical tape
- Phillips head screwdriver
- Jack
- Wire caps
- Additional 194 socket

The whole reason as to why I did this mod was because I didn't want the corner lights in the bumper to be on so I removed the bulb. Then I didn't like that it was doing anything so I decided to make it a blinker.

If you like the corner light and the parking light on together, then I do not advise you to do this but if you don't care about it then this is a very simple mod to do.

1. Remove the bumper
Jack up the car so that you have more room to work with. There are 5 bolts on the bottom of the bumper that you remove. Then there are 5 plastic screw under where the grille sits. Next, there are 1 screw on each side of the bumper in the corner where the fender meets the bumper. Finally, pull the bumper away, disconnect your turn signal and corner lights and put the bumper to the side.

2. Passenger's Side
All you do is just cut the corner light off. Give yourself enough wire to work with. Cap the wires that gave power to the corner light, wrap it in electrical tape and forget about it.

Tap into the Green/Blue wire with the Red/Black. Then tap into the negative in the middle with the negative from the corner light. After you finish, test it out.

3. Driver's Side
Since I have a 2.5, there are 4 wires coming out of the corner light on this side. I cut all of the wires yesterday but when I got into the car at night I noticed that the parking light was no longer on. So I picked up another 194 socket for nothing.

I tapped again into the Green/Blue wire with the Red/Black. I got a socket/wires from another TL so that is why the socket is the same color.

This side had 2 Green/Blue wires so I tapped into the one the left of the if you make it so that the negative is in the middle as shown.

Make sure that everything works. If it does, then tape all the wires up.

Place the bumper back on the car and then after you finish that, put your hazards on, step back and enjoy your new mod.

I got spares. You can get them from the junkyard. I saved some from my old cars.

Hello,

Does anyone have a DIY with pics on how to remove the front bumper lights? I have removed the side ones and I know there is a screw holding the front one, but I cannot for the life of me see where that screw is. Do I need to remove anything to get to it?

Thanks.

i know where it is but its kind of hard to explain .. u will need a magnet tip screwdriver btw because putting it back in will be a b**** ..

if u look inside your bumper where your bumper lights are u will see it.. look where a bumper grill would go if u were to put one

I did mine before with a dual filament bulb/socket. Wasn't a huge fan of it and put it back to stock.
