Desperately need help: First time TL Owner
Hi Guys, I've posted in parts, and in classifieds, and really need help. I'm not getting anywhere. I picked up a 96 TL 3.2 Premium at an auction, salvaged, and have been restoring it. I'm short a hood, and 2 headlights to be done. but can't afford dealer cost, as the headlights alone are about 1,000.00 for the pair. Work's really slow lately, and I basically bought the Acura to get out of my 2000 Stratus SE, so that I could get out of debt and payments. If you guys could please help me with any leads as to where to get these parts. I would appreciate it more than you could ever know. Thanks for your time.

The Stratus was a fun car, but not for me. I'm 6'4" and do a lot of commuting, as I run a small computer business. I need to go 50 miles each way to get parts for customers' machines. The Stratus was great on gas, but I invested $14,000.00 into it before realizing it wasn't for me. Now I'm trying desperately to sell it for $10,000, only 6 months later. I put 17" rims and tires on it, air intake, exhaust, an MP3 player, and many extras. If you know anyone at all looking for a car, I'm asking $10k cash. It's a loss, but at least I can buy the parts to finish my TL, then pay off the balance on the Dodge. Otherwise, it's a fast car for a 4cyl. Good value for the dollar if you're into a budget car, but even though I haven't ever driven my Acura yet, I still prefer it anyday, since it has more power, more comfort, and is more my style.
As far as going to a junkyard, I've called junkyards all over the US and have nothing. Please help me find these parts if you can. I really want my Acura on the road, but no luck yet.

I was gonna say the same thing about the black headlights. Thats your best bet. Visit the website nInEeiGhtTL posted. You could try www.copartfinder.com for used parts or www.oem-car-parts.com for new parts. Good luck

sup man welcome to the board. i definately think you should get the blacked out housing since it's probably cheaper than buying the OEM from the dealer. and if you have a black car, even better
. As for the hood, that's gonna be tough. beside from getting it from a junk yard which is unlikely....(think most accidents have something to do with the front of the car) or getting it custom fabricated in carbon fiber, getting it from the dealer is the only way to go. hehe maybe you can claim it under your insurance or something....like vandalism? some kids came and jacked the hood and headlights? hahaha yah just throwing out ideas here. good luck bud.

Thanks you guys, so much for your help. I'll definitely take all suggestions. Just wondering one thing, is the 350 per headlight, or is that the pair? I can't wait to get this car on the road. I found a hood from a bodyshop getting it from the dealer for about 400.00. I'm just trying to figure out the price on the headlights, becuase even at 350 a piece, if that's the case, it's still a lot of money. Although seems like nothing for the Acuras is cheap
But I do love the TL's features, and can't wait to become an active member of your board. Thanks again,

hmmm, i thought the pair was 500 or so... i guess i was wrong.. since 96tl said 350 a pair, then i'd go for the blacked housing headlights... as for wiring, id take unx's idea and buying HID's for 400-450! and you said (factory) hood was 400? toweroflove said carbon fiber hood was around 400 so id go for that!! man, everything your getting is cheaper than getting it stock from the dealership!!!! LOL oh what a deal! so your looking at spending around......1150 bucks! compare that to the prices of the stock parts.. you'd be amazed
