On close inspection, you have a 3.2 TL, correct?
I thought it was the air intake's resonator box at first.

thanks all...drives the same...body shop guy said it may be some kind of charcoal filter ?? he nor I know

isn't there a vaccum box of some kind above that by the coolant reserve? I remember when changing the light bulb I took out the coolant bottle and that black box and there was a hole that goes down there.

Update:
Went to dealership today to get bumper clips and they told me that it is a some sort of charcoal filter canister for emissions...then he asked if my 'Check Engine' light was on and if not it will be on soon...
"We have 'em in stock.....$234 bucks ...you wanna go ahead and get it?"
"Ughhhh....no...I have some duct tape."

Update: Check engine light is now ON!
I tried clicking on that website link at home and at work and I can't get it to load....is there an alternate link...or could someone tell me how to bypass this filter thingee....and reset the CHeck Engine light w/o disco'g battery for 10 mins....thanks to all

98 3.2 Flamenco Black
It is the charcoal cannister, you will fail emissions if you do not take care of it. It sucks up the unburned gas when you start up your car, when your car is warmed up the catlytic converter evaporates the unburned gas-emissions....but when you start up, it diverts the bad emissions to the canister.
