Compressor Hell
Okay, so my 3.2 has starting acting up. I saw smoke today - coming from the engine. I checked it out and it it seems to be coming from the compressor.
Smells like a burning clutch. I've had an Ac problem before and the AC tech changed some parts (not Compressor) and filled it up - he charged me $334 - that was a couple of years ago. iI could leave it on 1 and it would be ice cold. I am wondering if I can get a NEW or reman'ed compressor installed for under $500. Is that even possible?
I disconnected the connection at the accumulator - in an attempt to stop smoke. I think it worked, but I can still smell that awful smell though. I don't even want to turn the car on.
If I could find a used compressor, I'm sure my AC guy would let ME change my Compressor on site. Trying to save every buck I can.
How should I proceed?
Thanks
