codes P0135,P1457. Could you guys help ?
Hello guys, I have 1997 3.2TLwith 130K. I´m new to this forum and I´d like to ask you what the code P1457. I was ready for the trip this morning but when I start my car the check engine light came on my dash, so I quit all the reservations and staid at home. I rent the computer from Autozone and I´ve got this numbers - P0135- O2 sensor heater circuit maltifunction (bank1 sensor 1) so It means that the left front oxygen sensot needs to be replace and there is one more core - P1457 - manufacurer contrl. auxiliary emission controls and I have no idea what it does mean. I´ve been at the dealer to ask but I think that he didnt want to say where is the problem he only said it can be something around gas. I bought this car 2 weeks ago and I changed the spark plugs and fuel filter by myself last week and today I have got the check engine light. I will change the O2 sensor but dont know what the second code means. So guys if the somebody have any idea what the code P1457 means please let me know. Thank you very much !!!!

Welcome to the forum.
Your in luck!!! since you have a 97 TL, your car is covered under an extended emissions warranty that last for 14 years/150,000 miles. Anything that triggers the check engine light (aka emissions related) will be fixed by the dealer FREE OF CHARGE. In addition to this, you are probably also eligible for the one-time free service that is offered between 75k and 150k miles unless the previous owner already took advantage of this. So just book an appointment with your dealer, and let em know you want your car fixed under the emissions recall, and that you want your free "service" done as well. The service typically includes replacing plugs, coils, oil change.
And congratualtions on your TL, hope it brings you years and years of driving pleasure. Any first impressions?

No kidding ??? I was finding the anything about warranty in the warranties book but there is everything only for the 8 years / 80K miles. How do you know that the 97 3.2TL is covered till 150K ? You know I think that I will need any kind of paper to show it to the dealer to he can do it for free. I changed the plugs last week and didnt use original but aftermarket but they are double platinum. Do you think that he can say that it is my fault due to I dont use original parts ? Thanks a lot !!!!

TL no more!
As long as it is emissions related, your car is covered by the extended emissions warranty for 14 years or 150,000 miles, whichever comes first. If you haven't gotten a free tuneup, do it while the car is in. Also try to see if there's a free loaner car since it does take a while to get the work done. Here's some reading material for ya:
