changing power steering fluid

is it ok to suck out the old power steering fluid with a pump to put new fluid in?
i think it's easier than going under the car to drain it.

One of the shops I went to said my power steering fluid was "dirty" and needs to be changed. What do you guys think about that? He wanted a hundred something to do it...I think it's a load of crap.

Yeah it's okay to do that. It's actually close to how you're supposed to do it. It's not a load of crap if a mechanic says you need it changed. If it smells like crap and is really dark it needs changed. It will save your rack and power steering pump and also make the steering a little more responsive. A hundred or more is way to much for that though. I'd say around $80 is more resonable.

you cant just neglect the fluid like that
