CD player won't play

I have not been able to use my CD player for a month or so now. I have tried using one of those cd cleaners, but it did not work. It gives me the error message CD-PEO (something like that). My husband has misplaced the manual so I was wondering if anyone could help me out? Oh, I have a 98' 3.2TL.

This is a common occurance with the factory deck. It sits at such an angle that dirt, lint, etc. gets in there and mucks things up. You can go to a dealer and it will cost a pile of money to get it back in working shape. Personally, I opted for an aftermarket deck. So far, it works great with the factory speakers, and should for you.

yeah the only bet would be to take the deck apart and clean it out from the inside... but it may not be worth the hassle...

Your deck probably needs to be replaced. It's not worth the cost in fixing it. If you went to the dealer they will sell you a brand new OEM deck for something like $2,200. Crazy.

I have a used OEM deck with the security code that I've been wanting to get rid of. If you want to buy it we can make a deal. I'll unlead it for $80.00 plus shipping.

Also, there's a deck on eBay for sale:

Alternatively you can go to http://car-part.com/ and type in radio to see if any salvage yards has it.

I sent mine to an electronics firm in Texas (www.WillmansElectronics.com) and they fixed it for $190. Been using for 2+ years now and it still works great and I use it all the time.

I have a 96 3.2 TL with 165k miles.

Thanks for all the info. Not sure what to do now, but it doesn't sound like it's worth trying to buy a new one. How hard is it to install the deck yourself?
