Can a bad wheel bearing cause tire noise

My right rear is making a woot woot sound dependent on speed. Can it cause the tire to separate or make it start making noise as well? Is the wheel loose when the bearing goes bad? ie shaking the tire while its mounted and creating free play

It'll make noise, but I don't think it'll cause wheel separation... One of my m8s had it until it was droning and a quick replacement solved everything. It might just be that the more you drive on it, the less likely it can be re-packed. My Accord couldn't be re-packed at all, not because of driving it with a bad bearing, but just due to design. Ken, want to clarify?

In my experience w/ wheel bearing noise, it gets steadily worse progressing from an annoying growl to an unnerving howl. An mis-aligned tire will sometimes wear unevenly on the side and create a medium-pitched woo-woo sound.

Jack car and grab wheel top-bottom and check for play. Even the slightest amount of free-play indicates a faulty bearing.

good luck
