Cabin Ain Filter

I have a 2.5 TL and recently not only has my air conditioner not been working as well as it used to there is a rather bad smell coming through it. Im assuming it needs a new cabin air filter. And as far as it not being nearly as cool and as effective as it used to be do any of you know what may be causing this. It still blows very strongly but there isnt much cool air comign from it even after ive been driving it for a while. Any help would be appreciated.

as for your a/c not being cold i think its might be becuase your a/c lines have a small leak allowing the R12 or R134a to leak out. you could take it to an a/c shop and have them check for leaks and then change it. Be thankful your blower motor is still strong...mines only costing about $1000 to fix and about the smell a good little trick to prevent that is spraying disenfectant into your vents when you clean your car. cabin air filter? i got no clue about that

I don't think the TL's have a cabin air filter in the 1st generation. The RL's did though. They were behind the glovebox.

You know I had the same problem the first summer I owned my '96TL but it went away after a while, so I dont know what it was about.

Pretty sure the TL's don't have an air cleaner/filter for the HVAC system. Check the vent under your hood for debris (leaves, etc.) first if it's not blowing. If it's just not cold, then ya, probably a leak in the refrigerant. Happens. Take it to an a/c shop they can put dye in and find the leak.
