A/C Fan problem

Hey guys, My 97 TL's a/c fan turns on everytime the a/c is working. As soon as I hit the auto climate button the a/c fan turns on, even when the temp is set on warm temperatures. As you guys know its pretty loud. It turns on even when the engine is cold at like 6am and 40 degrees outside. I can get the fan to turn off by pressing the middle of the 3 buttons (ac on/off switch) but of course, that also turns off the a/c. Before I go looking into it, does anyone know the solution to this problem?

Whenever the desired (set) temp is above or below the interior temp, the fan will come on to try and drive the interior temp towards the set point. If your temp setting is 75 and you get into a cold car (45F), the fan comes on fast to warm the car, however since the coolant is cold, this takes time until coolant warms. The auto temp control is not "smart" enough to know the coolant temp is too cold to provide any heat. You can mitigate this somewhat by turning the set temp as far towards the interior temp as possible, about 60 is low setting. This usually causes fan speed to go to minimum.

Reverse happens when it's hot inside, the AC fan goes max to cool the car, but only hot air get's pushed until the evaporator has time (not too long) to cool a bit.

Bottom line, it's working correctly.

good luck

Here is some more info..

If you turn the dial to 60 or 90 degrees.. regardless of the interior temperature, the fans will blow at MAX.

So if its a cold morning and you want heat but not the fans blowing cold air.. set it to 89. The car will blow hot air when its actually warmed up enough.

Ohh you guys are talking bout the interior fans. Ya I know thats how theyre supposed to work.
Thanks for you replies. But Sorry. (I knew i wrote my post in a confusing way.)
What I meant by a/c fan is the fan under the hood. Im guessing the electric radiator fan or condensor. Havent looked at which one it is but its an electric fan (You know the fan that turns on a hot day when your engine is also hot).
But ya, the fan under the hood turns on as soon as I turn on the climate control inside the car. In everyother car the fan under the hood turns on only after driving the car hard on a hot day with the a/c on. So anyone know what the problem is?

This is normal for our engines. Its done to prevent overheating of the engine. One of the few weaknesses of the engine design is a head gasket issue, Honda solved this by keeping the fan engaged as needed.
