ok on the chrome peice i am painting black

should i take the marker lense out and just paint or mask around the lense? i like the look of Dom's marker light so i am assuming take out the lense. and spray.
also
should i just paint the one side of the entire chrome peice or should i paint both sides of the whole thing?

thanks alot

Definitely take the lens out for a cleaner job but don't paint the reflector behind it.

Pop off the corner lens and put tape behind it. Paint them exactly like this.

BTW, if you look at that white TL above and look at mine below you'll see the difference in corner lenses. My corners look so dull. Definitely don't paint under the corner lenses.

so guys is it pretty simple just to heat the headlight up and remove the plastic front cover? I need to switch the outer cover on my black driver headlight with my old chrome plastic cover cuz my black one got a tiny bit messed up and im anal about my car. So if you could give me any tips on just doing that it would be great. Oh and yea 96TL you ride was the SH*T!! and AC_DADDY if you have white i think you should go like mine (I.E. the pic above) but i do like how 96TLs side signals came out.

slownlow32tl, I didn't realize that was your car. Nice! Black headlights look really good on white cars too. I didn't know about the over trick back then so I used a heat gun instead. The oven sounds alot easier and much cleaner. When you start popping them open start from the corner parking light side. The inner side (foglight) has tabs that slide into the rear half of the headlight. Its not that hard. Like I said, take it slow. DO NOT RUSH THIS. Also, make sure you remove the foglight lens, don't tape over it. It has 3 philips screws holding it in place. You'll see them. I believe Colt45 wrote a DIY on this in the past.

AC_DADDY, definitely get a Value wing and Inspire tails. Makes the car look 100 times better. Especially when you have a nice set of wheels. Also, HIDs are a must. When you paint your lights you'll lose some light output so HIDs help a lot. Also, black headlights reduce the glare from HIDs a lot. Once I painted mine I didn't get high beamed from other drivers anymore.

The color of the JDM ones that i have are kind of flat black pearl if that makes any sense, reflective "flecks" are in the paint that reflect when hit by light. Just to give you the JDM info if you interested.
