before i buy tires,will a 225/50/17 season fit on a 3.2tl
i got type-s wheels about a year ago, and now im planning on buying tires, the type-s wheel can be either a CL or TL so i musta have a TL wheels cuz the wheels that are on says 225 and plus the wheels on it is 225 suv tires,so what tires will fit and not rub and not low profile, meaning size dosent matter brand, seeing all tires on here on the forum with the rims i have. i dont really know which.
so should i get
225/45/17
225/50/17
215/50/17
so should i get
225/45/17
225/50/17
215/50/17

Well, with 17's you pretty much ARE low profile if you get a tire that will fit. It's not so much a matter of choice, but a matter of design. The recommended size for a 17" rim would be a 225/45/17 to keep as close to the original tire diameter as possible. 225/50/17 will be a little bigger and may rub depending on the offset of the rim. With CL-S rims, you should be ok as i beleive they are at least 45 offset.

u will be fine.. i have that setup on my 3.2 TL right now... the 215/50/17 is the closest to our stock 15's with 205/65/15..
if you go 215/45/17, your speedo will be off a little... if i had a drop and didn't care about my speedo, i would go 215/45/17... but im stock height...

Essentially, its a non issue. Both are so close to one another it doesn't really matter. In terms of tire selection though, there's a HUGE amount of tires available at 225/45 R17. Not as many to choose from at 215/50. The handling diff between a 225/45 tire and a 215/50 tire is pretty big too. Just something to keep in mind.

215/50 would ride more smooth and quiet. You have more sidewall to flex and cushion the road.
But handling would be better at 225/45. And its not too rough. Also depends a lot on the tire you get.
