ATTN: Colt45.. or any 2.5'ers

someone asked this question about his vigor (same engine as 2.5 TL) and i thought you (or any other 2.5'ers) might have an answer to this...

"I've decided to embark on a journey that will be difficult, but in
the end, it will be well worth it. What I've decided to do is a custom turbocharger install. I looked at my exhaust yesterday and there is tons of room for a turbo between the cat and the exhaust manifold. I've already got 2.5 in exhaust pipe, hi-flow
cat/muffler, so I'm already covered there. Most likely i'll need
to remove a heat shield, but oh well. The turbo I want to run is a T04E @ 8-10 psi, which I think would be safe with a little higher
octane (95?) and the 9:1 compression. The potential hp for the vig at sea level @ 10 psi is 450, but up here at 4500 ft, I'll probably be closer to 390. Once the perfect turbo pops up on ebay, I'll start. I hope theres someone here that knows more about turbos than me so I can get help along the way."

did u reinforce ur engine yet??? and are u postive that a stock engine can handle 8-10psi??? i dunno to me that is like cramming a 500 shot NOS into a civic engine... not saying that jap engines aren't strong but the stability of the stock engine has never given me enough reassurance to add a turbo, supercharger or NOS... just make sure ur heads are all in working order hehehehe u don't want a blown motor

uhh.

Thats an awfully big turbo. Lots of cfm to move. First of all you will need alot of parts. Your going to need a bpr (boost dependent regulator), fuel pump, intercooler, blow off valve, intercooler pipes, downpipe, manifold, the turbo, wastegate, and either check valves of a missing link for the map sensor. That will get you started. The car will be in **** tuning with out some sort of fuel pressure regulator or mild first step management like a safc or vafc.

The best turbo for somthing like you are doing with such a short powerband with no high reving in my oppinion would be a 52 or 0 trim t3/t04 hybrid with a a/r of like .50

That would spool fast and provide with what you have intercooled efficiently about 8-15 hp per pound of boost. I am not tooo firmilliar with the 5 cylinder block but im betting its prolly floating cylinder walls as opposed to solid deck. This means with alot of boost you could have the chance to crack sleeves or egg shape the cylinders easier. high boost will also take its toll on honda rings. A friend of mine has a type r integra all stock internals and ran 15 psi to it with 10.8:1 compression. This lasted about a full summer but he was making about 315 hp and running 12.56 in the quarter at like 118 which merrits alot faster low 12 or so with good traction and 60 foot.

final oppinion is: get a 50-52 trim t3to4 hybrid, i have one as a coffie table ornament id sell you but i smoked it a long time ago and it needs to be rebuilt completely for as much as a new one costs.

550 from dynamic autosports for a turbo like the one you need. and MAKE SURE NOT TO USE A TURBONETICS DELTAGATE. Those wastegates are anus and you DO NOT want that. Boost creep and **** will blow the fock out of your unit.

Good luck and peace and hair grease.
