My alternator belt is wearing thin, and i have the replacement. How do I do this? Can I do this? (I hope so because I'm going to try either way). Thanks!

I will replace my alternator and belt this summer. I'll definately do a diy.
I have an idea in a nut shell as to doing this.
there should be a long screw with a nut thats used to tighten and loosen the belt.
Id try to find that. It should be close by to the proximity of the belt.

I recently replaced my 97 2.5TL alternator belt. Here's my procedure:
1) Remove both cooling fans. You might could do this job w/o removing the condensor fan (driver's side), but I found removing both doesn't take much longer than the 1st and access was much improved. I don't think this job is possible w/o removing the radiator fan on the pax side.
2) Remove PS belt. W/ radiator fan removed you can access the lock nut, adjusting bolt, and mount bolt to remove the PS belt.
3) Loosen the idler pulley center nut and adjusting bolt to loosen the AC compressor belt and remove the belt.
4) Finally, you can remove the alternator belt by loosening the lock bolt, through bolt, and adjusting nut to loosen the alternator belt.
Reverse for installation.
Let forum know your results.
good luck
