Air Filters cheaper at dealer??

Hey everyone,

I was shopping around for an air filter for my 1996 TL 2.5 and I tried the usual places (I'm in Toronto, Canada)
Parts Source and Canadian Tire charge $47CDN.
Walmart doesn't carry them.

I finally called a dealer and they charge $30. But I keep thinking that the guy on the phone was new and got the price wrong.

If anyone has a better price in the Toronto area, let me know.

Also, if anyone has one of those washable filters, what has been your experience?

is the washing, drying, oiling etc, worth the trouble?

Thanks.

Just go buy a K&N drop-in filter and you'll be happy. It doesn't take much to wash it and re-oil. The oil is in a spray can that you just spray lightly onto the filter and let it sit for 20 minutes. You'll know if you missed anything because the oil is what makes it red.

~Cheers~

as Go mentioned, invest in the K&N drop in air filter. Once it gets dirty, you can buy the cleaning kit by the same company and clean it as many times until you sell the car. They even have a sticker for you to place over the air filter covering that says "STOP! DO NOT DISCARD THIS AIR FILTER" or something like that. the model we use is 33-2267

The cleaning is easy and you can easily tell if you missed a spot.

black grime = missed the spot

red/pink = clean area

:)

by the way, i bought my k&n air filter online aT:

Canadian Tire Corp
1731 Preston AVE
