ABS Ligh

Going to buy a 96tl tomarrow ... The abs light is on, so is the abs gone and need replaced or could it just be that the break fluid is low or something... and if the abs is done do i have to get it fixed for the car to run right or can i just go w/out it.. also how much do you think it would cost to fix to try and get something off the price since they are advertising the abs is working...

Thanks

Check the battery to see if it's weak, and check if the car struggles a bit to start. You might just have to replace the battery...

I had the same problem. Was a blown speed sensor. Cost me about 200 to get it replaced.

ABS can usually be repaired, however if modulator is bad it may cost several hundred dollars for a used replacement. A new modulator is probably $2K, ouch but problems are usually wheel sensors.

If you're DIY, then you should be OK.

It's not a bad idea to have a good inspection by a competent mechanic or inspection service. I've usually found this to be a worthwhile investment.

good luck
