Exclamation 97 2.5 TL Starter problem

The starter clicks 2 or 3 times before the engine turns over. Does any one know if you can take out the starter without removing the Intake Manifold?

This looks like a nightmere.

i jus had this problem... sounds like its common. i replaced my starter myself~took a lil time, but i did it myself. instead of taking off the whole wheel shaft and cv and yadda, i took out the battry, then the altonator, then teh starter is rite behind that. all n all it took about 4~5 hours. if you go this route, jus make sur to screw the starter all the way in as the back screws are a little harded to reach. i made the mistake of thinking i was dun, put it all back together, then the damn thing wouludn t start. i didn't push the starter in quite far enuf. so there i was, taking it all apart and redoing it again, but my car runs now!! good luck~!~ whats the next thing i should look ut for to go on my car??.....Damn sink hole

I just got done replacing my starter. I have a 2.5 inline 5. The starter is right under the intake. so I took off the piece between the throttle body and the cylander head. It took about 4 hours to take off and about 2 hours to put back on. It is just hard to get to the nuts. And there are allot of vacume lines.

Note: If your car is older it is a good idea to replace the o ring at the top of the injecter. I believe the ethonal in California gas make the o rings wear and crack. The cracking causes the injector to leak.
