1996 TL keyless entry with 2006 TL remote?
I have a spare keyless entry remote from a 2006 TL, and I'm wondering if it can be programmed to work on my son's 1996 2.5L TL? His car has the factory alarm system installed.
I know there are aftermarket remotes available for the '96, but I'd rather just use this remote from my old '06 if at all possible.

It won't work.
The 2.5 TL used a Kenwood system that can only be used with the remote that came with the car. Replacements don't even work sadly.

Interesting. Are you saying that even Acura replacements don't work?
I could have sworn I saw after market remotes that claim to work on the '96.
I'm not really surprised that the '06 remote wouldn't work though, but I thought it was worth a shot.

Aftermarket remotes work just fine, but of course you're going to be replacing the 'brain' of the security system with it.
And yes, even the 3.2 TL's system of the same year won't work. Different setup entirely.
