1996 TL cointray

A friend of mine's car was broken into and the ashtray (cointray) was stolen. I suppose it was full of change. Does anyone have a good source for finding a replacement? I've hunted around at junkyards and online parts suppliers with no success.

From what she told me, it was illuminated and had some sort of cloth lining. I don't know if it was standard or an option. I appreciate any help that anyone might be able to give me.

I think she's fine with leaving a gaping hole in the dash/console than having to buy one from the dealership.

all cointrays in the first gen were illuminated and had cloth lining in it so it's not an aftermarket part. if you look around on ebay, every once in awhile someone parts out their TL so you can snag one from there, otherwise you're stuck with the junkyard or dealer.

their car got broken into and all they stole was the coin tray?

The coin tray itself wasn't illuminated, but had slots cut into it so that a light in the centre console would shine through.

~Cheers~

P.S. I'd keep my eyes peeled on eBay, .

http://www.findusedparts.com/
Call the number and talk to Jason, he always came thru for me.
I bought a steering wheel, airbag, cable reel and many other stuff for my TL from him.

Go to www.car-parts.com and find any part for a first gen TL. Then call any junk yard that has a first gen TL and more than likely they'll also have the coin tray.

Unfortunely www.car-parts.com doesn't have a specific search item for coin trays so you need to do this work-around.

Thanks for the help everyone. The best I could come up with is $20 (including shipping) for an ashtray. Oh well.

Dude, $20 shipped is hella cheap. I had expected you to spend closer to $50 or so...

~Cheers~
