..in a 1998 RL? as in will it fit and match the wood trim? if it fits and just doesn't match the color how hard would it be to update all of the wood trim? heres an ebay link i was looking at

It should fit fine, however, you can buy an entire woodgrain dash kit for that price or less. Unless something is wrong with your radio or climate control I wouldn't want to have to go to the trouble of replacing it all.

true, i was also thinking of taking it to a care stereo shop that does custom installs and get them to make a custom dash kit and have a new after market cd player put in there. how much do you think it would be for them to rig something up? minus the cost of the headunit because i can get a discount on them at work.

It is my understanding that the wood will not match. The 96-98 RL featured walnut, whereas the 99+ received Camphor wood. The grain between these two are different.

I wouldn't recommend this switch, either. If you want the look of a 99+ RL, you'd be better off trading up.
