What is engine code 5-5?

Just had my regular mechanic replace the rack n pinnion and the valve cover gasket and a leak in the muffler. When I was about to take the car the engine and tcs light went off. He tried connecting the computer to it and he was getting a connection error on his end, I manually extracted the coded 55 jumping the pins under the passenger side, I am pretty sure it was not the egr valve because the dealer replaced it about a year ago under warranty due to emmisions law in MASS. The engine idles roughly, much lower than the normal 1k rpm it used to, and it fluctuates, if you gas it hard enough or let it idle too low it will shut off. So what do you guys think, I have the pdf manual but I am not at home atm, and he is willing to look more deep into it this thursday when his computer tech can look at it better. He did mention it feels as if the car was rich on fuel.

well my friend looked at it he says theres two things he notices. 1 when he disconected the sensor that pipes into the intake the engine kept running, it was supposed to shut the engine off. leads to 2 things they twisted or damaged part of the engine harness or messed up the computer

Narrowed it down to the code was probably 5-5-5 and the problem ended up being a vacuum leak, they told me some tube got damaged and caused a vacuum leak. Now it's time to shop for new tires, and possibly get a new fuel filter.
