Model Year Fraud

Model Year Fraud
I just got into an arguement with the detail guy, because he insisted my RL was a 2003. The vin number and sticker under the hood say I have an 04, but the car was built in February 2003. Does anyone know how early they can build an 04 and not have to call it an 03?

Generally, model years are one year ahead of the calendar year. So for instance, the TSX was first released in April of 2003 as a 2004 model. I am sure that your car, despite being built in 2003, is actually a 2004 if the VIN says that it is.
Tell the detail guy he needs to relax. If he's from abroad, their system might be different, but how I descibed it above is how we do it in the States.

The '04 RL is unique.
Do you have a chrome shiftgate? 10 speaker system? stock XM?
You have an '04

AND it was confirmed again this past Saturday while purchasing my RDX that the 2004 RL was/is the MOST reliable Acura built in the line up. Confirmed with my Salesman, Service Manager and Service Rep.!!!!

Tell the detail guy that the date of manufacture does not indicate the model year of the car.
my 2001 CL-S was bought in March or April (don't remember) of 2000...there is NO WAY possible, short of Asimo figuring out time travel, that the car was built in 2001 yet it is still a 2001 model year car.
