Manual swap

am I crazy for thinking about this? I know the 3.5 block fits up to the legend transmissions, so can the legend trans fit up to the RL's tranny mounts? I found some really old posts from 2005 on the topic: http://www.acura-legend.com/vbulleti...version-68088/ and at the bottom of the second page they talk about people who have done it. It seems to require a bit of work in "uncharted fields" but I'd give it a shot considering some of the people I know have experience with swapping.

I want to try this. Does anyone here have a "do it" or "hell no" kinda thing to add?

It would be nice to bolt a 6 speed up to our engines. I believe it will in fact bolt up. I know people have done 3.5 swaps on their legends. The problem is our cars are OBDII and Legends are OBDI. Youd run into problems there. The car probably wouldnt pass inspection. Then there may be clearance issues, getting things to bolt up, etc.

Yeah, the main issue is the OBD-I equipment that is needed. And of course, you'll need to pass any sort of smog tests in your area. I went through that with my '97 TL using Type II parts off of a Legend.

If you really want to go that route, I'd check the Legend forums and see what the 3.5 swaps involve.

Hmm... It seems mostly that getting the shift linkage to line up would be a difficult part. There are probably many problems that I wouldn't even know till I started working. But how would OBD type have an effect on the transmission? I think for autos the OBD "watches" the transmission, but with any manual swap you wire the car to belive it's constantly in neutral. And how would smog be affected?

This is my DD and my only car so it can't be out of commission. Maybe I'll do more research when I get a second car, which won't be for years
