Cig lighter on all the time

Cig lighter on all the time
Hi,
Is there a way to make the cig lighter inside the center console flip-up box stay on all the time (even with the car is off). I want my cell to charge even when the car isn't running.
I have an '04 RL.
Thanks,
John

u gotta rewire, what u wanna do is, hook up the 12v cig lighter directly to your engine bay. so you have to wire it from the engine battery, through the firewall, to the center console, underneath ur shifter/handbrake and into the positive side of the cig lighter. Then there will be constant power to it, becareful though, you might run out of juice if you leave it on all night.

I did this for my Camry. The RL looks like it will be more difficult to get through the center console. How much should I expect to pay a car audio/"pimp" store to do this?

Real easy to do...well besides removing all the shit. Just run the wiring for the + sid of the cig lighter to something that is on all the time, or buy the same gauge wire and run from your battery to the cig lighter + and just ground it. Well shit, I am drunk and someone already mentioned this...HI.
Anyways, it's easy to do. Same concept I had with a radar detector...run it up to the dome lights (something like that) whenever you start your car, radar dector is on...just find a positive spot to cut in to, and you're set.
Oh, as far as somebody to do it, find a local audio shop or something, they may do it. It is not hard to do at all...but if you aren't familiar with something, yo umight have troubles....
