CEL code help.

Hi guys, recently my car is getting a very bad gas mileage so I scanned the CEL and it threw me with two codes.

The first code was "P0141 O2 Heater Circuit BANK 1, Sensor 2" Is this the O2 sensor under the car near the CAT area?

http://www.autopartswarehouse.com/sk...%26+Drivetrain

Will this O2 sensor fit near the cat? It said front and passenger so I don't know it can be used under the car. Plus it's the cheapest OEM and require no wire splicing I found.

Second code "P0401" I have no idea what is this

What year is yours? Have you ever changed the cat? I really doubt it's even defective you are probably just running too rich or too lean. You should look into that first before purchasing just, my two cents.

I have a 1996 RL. I have never changed the CAT, BTW what did you mean by running too rich or too lean? Anyway my car is at 164k.

i think he's eluding to the conceived notion that the sensor that's after the cat generally doesn't go bad. it only checks to see if the cat is working.

its more likely the front/upstream o2 sensor. they are the ones that send readings to the ecu for fuel. which i believe your p0141 code is for. if it were me i'd change both front o2 sensors. they're cheap enough and easy enough to change.

and your p0401 code is the insufficient egr flow code. the egr needs removed and cleaned. and you also need to remove and clean the egr-->intake manifold crossover pipe. i had this code on my '99 and that what i did to alleviate it.

i believe for your p0401 that your car is covered under an extended honda/acura warranty on all '96 model year vehicles for emissions components. i'd take the car to acura and let them look and see if they'll change it on good faith. since i think the warranty expires at 150k mi.
