Hi All

I love my 97 RL. Easily the best car I have owned.

Unfortunately, my wipers have stopped working. During a rainstorm the wipers somehow came into contact with each other and have stopped working.

It seems like the linkage connecting the wipers has let go. I can still hear the wiper motor, but the wiper arms feel disconnected.

Before I try to take it apart, has anyone else had this problem?

Any advice is very much appreciated.

i had this problem on my CL. The one wiper arm popped of it's linkage and would just sit there while the other kinda shimmied up and down about an inch. I just popped the hood and took off the covers, put them back into the linkage and they worked fine. Maybe an hour, hour and a half worth of work. Real easy to do.

You are correct. I had to replace a wiper link, but there are actually two in the RL and the dealer recommended replacing both, costing $75.00 cdn total at the dealer for the parts.

Although it is not a common problem, the dealer says they usually have a couple cases each year.
