AUX Question

AUX Question
I had a question regarding the installation on the auxiliary input on my 98 Acura RL. I have read the sticky post on the DIY AUX input. I can not find the identical part which is Part HON-AUX. I can only find the HON98-AUX. I was wondering if anyone could help me understand if this would be compatible. I finally became a member but have used this forum over the years and its been nothing but helpful to me. The link to the product in question in below. Thanks in advance fellas

The one in the provided link will work. It just plug into your existence CD changer connection be-hide the radio. It is only providing you with an external audio sources like mp3 play, iphone or anything with 3.5mm jack etc... The other PAC HON harness is for you to add an aftermarket HU. Hopes that help. BTW, I still have the PAC HON harness if you needed lol

Thanks for the input guys. 3.5RLv-tec I have seen you trying to get rid of that thing on previous posts I have read lol! I would prolly buy it. Now If I did want to simply hook it up to the 3.5mm jack on my iPhone I could still use the PAC HON with a 3.5mm audio cable correct? I just wanna have this thing connected digitally because I have gone through several cassette tapes and the sound quality is subpar. Winter here in Pittsburgh can be brutal on the cords haha. Prolly be the way to go if one day I wanted to put in an aftermarket HU. Let me know and we can work something out. Thanks

Hey JMo, if you don't mind me asking, why not go with the method in the DIY? Unless, you don't have the CD changer, which would be the limiting factor.
But, $10 seems to beat $100+ including the price of a new trim to install the port yourself.

I sold my PIE HON AUX long time ago. The only harness I have left is the PAC HON for aftermarket HU. To answer your question, you need the PIE HON AUX in the link not the PAC HON. Or you can just follow Earl to save money.
BTW, do you guy noticed your car getting louder over time. I mean road and wind noise. I installed sound deadening for all 4 doors and still had a lot of noise. My continental DW is producing a lot of road noises, so I need to change out the tire. I just can't figure out to deal with wind noise issue.

1 1/2 year old, so far I only put 14K on it. Just a head up, dont get these tires. They are a summer performance tire and their traction is really good, they are noisy lol.

MyNameisEarl, your DIY write up is awesome. I just don't feel like soldering anything and I am leaning towards purchasing the iSimple ISAS 71 iPod Interface Kit. I guess you can even use the audio controls on the steering wheel to switch songs. Plus it will charge my iPod with no additional wires. Do any of you guys know of any downsides to this device?
3.5RLv-tec: I have been through 2 sets of tires since having my RL. The first was Pilot Exaltos which were awesome. Lasted 45,000 miles but did get noisy near the end of their life. I have Yokohama AVID Ascends now. Seems to ride softer and much more quite. I personally like the Grand-Touring tires better for this car. If your a "spirited" driver I guess go performance lol. How Many miles you got 3.5RLv-tec?

I have this kit, one thing I noticed is that you really need to push to get the cable into the radio. And it will only charge older generation ipods, my iphone 4 doesn't charge on it, nor my ipod touch 2g, but my ipod nano 4g works fine on it. Sounds great

Thanks for the response Ryan, I also have an iPhone 4. I was concerned with it being incompatible with the newer iphones and iPods. Do they sell any updated versions of the iSimple? And is there anything on the adapter that you could have an Auxiliary cable run from it instead of thr ipod usb dock cord? But if I do that I might as well get a PIE HON AUX, but I can't find one anywhere

I don't know nothing about the iSimple, so I not going to talk about it lol
