Question Adding amp/sub

Hi everybody

Has anyone on here added an amp/sub to your factory bose system? If so how did you connect it. I brought the audiolink PD2 and the harness for my car (00 RL) but the harness did not fit so the installer used a PAC line level converter, the sound is good but it has that annoying turn on thump. If anyone has used the PD2, how did you connect it. If anyone used a line level converter how did you connect it and did you get turn thump.

Thanks, AJ

I Dont Know If This Is Any Help But I Compleatly Re Did My Stock Bose System (head Unit, Speakers And Amps) And I Got That Same Thump. When I Upgraded My Sub Amp To The Audison Vrx1.500 I Noticed It Has A 1 Sec Delay When The Car Is Initialy Turned On. This Helped Me Get Rid Of That Thump. Every Once In A While It Comes Back. It Think It Might Have Something To Do With Your Fuses Or Ground Wires, But Dont Quote Me On That. Btw Have You Upgraded Your Bose Stock Speakers? When I Initialy Installed My Deck And Amps I Left Them In For About A Month And Was Surprised To Find Out How Well They Held Up.

I used a line-level adapter, tapped into the 6x9's on the rear deck for the signal, and then tapped into the ACC fuse block to run the power to the adapter, kinda of a jimmy rig for the power but I spent several hours in the trunk and under the dash trying to locate a 12v turn on lead, I did not want to mess with removing the center console etc. but its a clean install and I am very happy with the result. Local car audio shops quoted me $300-$500 to do this same job. I'm running a Punch P4002 to a Punch DVC12. Hope this helps.

I used a hi/lo converter and did the same thing as DIYMike...tapped into the rear 6x9s at the stock amp and just hooked it up to sub amp. I get a loud turn on thump, just turn your bass down when you turn it on...I don't see it as a big problem, just sucks if you were bumping and you forgot about it...rude awakening the next morning. Anyways, it sounds great...I heard you would lose clarity and whatnot, but it sounds pretty good to me. I have an 02, so I am not sure if that plays a major role in anything...good luck though.

Please excuse my previous post, there is no turn on lead for the adapter, what I meant was I tapped the ACC in the fuse box for the remote wire for the amp. I just happen to catch that error after I read my post again, sorry.

I get the same thump when I turn my car on. It's not that loud and it really doesn't bother me. I have a 1200 watt Sony explode and 1 12' sony explode sub. Just installed the sirius radio too. I love it..
