2004 RL OEM Head Unit Signal

So I am about to start my full stereo rebuild, removing all of the BOSE equipment, but keeping the OEM Head Unit and Nav. From everything that I have seen the OEM HU in the 2004 sends a 4 channel signal to the BOSE amp. What I need to know is if this 4 channel signal is flat, ie, does the factory HU do any processing? I am trying to determine if I need a fancy summing interface or if I can get by with the line output converter thats built into my Audiocontrol EQX.

Thanks for your help!

Thanks, but perhaps you misunderstood my question. I am looking to do the opposite of what you did. I want to keep the OEM head unit and replace the factory amp and speakers.

I'm fairly certain the head unit doesnt do the processing on the '04, I'll need to go through the tech manual to make sure.

Find out Ken. I was under the impression that it was done by the headunit.

Ive already purchased a cleansweap, but my system install (while having all the parts) has been delayed because of lazyness on my part. lol

Looks like you and I are in the same boat. I went ahead and purchased a cleansweep also. I will still use my Audiocontrol EQX after the cleansweep. I also like it because it gives me a aux input.

For future reference: I'm pretty sure all processing is done in the head unit itself. I know in my '99 it sends out 4 channels of balanced audio but I don't see any I/O dedicated to sound processing. also, I'm running a gutted head unit and only sending the audio signals and power switch to the amp and it does fine. Looking over the service manual I see no reason to believe the '04 is any different in terms of operational method (though the terminal pinouts are certainly different)

Sorry, I'm having a hard time understanding what your saying. Are you saying that the HU in your 99 doesn't send out a crossed or processed signal? Do you happen to know the voltage of the oem preamp leads?
