2004 rl, navi voice is just static sound
I have a 2004 RL and when I recently changed the battery, I noticed that the voice on the Navi is now all garbled with static when it tries to speak. The display works fine, it is just the voice. I tried disconnecting battery again, switching from male to female voice, turning voice on and off but with same results. Static voice feedback. Any ideas on a solution?

I disconnected the Positive Post over night and the results are the same, garbled navigation voice feedback. The voice starts but is quickly covered over by loud static feedback sound.

Check the cable connections on back of the headunit as well as the navi unit in the trunk.

Back for a recap to this issue.
The problem got so back with the navigation unit that it just kept re-booting every few minutes while driving and would flash disk drive error messages on the screen. I ended up removing the rear DVD Drive and sending it in to Pioneer and had that unit repaired for $158.00. I received the unit back, installed it, and it has been running like new!!! That seemed to solve my problem!

WOW! That's a great way to save a few hundred bucks... and you didn't even need to switch over to GEICO.
Do you have a link or contact info for the Pioneer repair service in case that happens to one of us?
I'd much appreciate it.
It'd be a whole lot better to send it out instead of ponying up the dough for a new/used nav replacement.

I said Pioneer but it was actually Alpine Electronics that fixed it. You have to call 800-421-2284 for return instructions. Took about 2 weeks total. I sent the unit to the address below with a check for $158.00 and a description of my error message.
