2001 -> 2002, and clockspring situation
I'm interested in buying one of these but am gathering more info before I start shopping.
A few questions,
- Does the 2002 have a new engine or is it just the "revised air intake" and other exterior mods that makes the difference? (and if so can they be retrofitted to older models?)
- The 2002 seems to have better brakes, can they be retrofitted onto older models?
And I've seen a couple of posts about discontinued clockspring. Are we at the point of scouring junk yards for one should it break?
thx

Brakes and intake are the same. The differences are the suspension. muffler, tire size, and height. The 02's suspension is apparently way stiffer than the 01's and the muffler is much freer flowing. They changed the dampers/coil springs, sway bar and its components, and the front upper control arms to make it stiff as hell. The tire size was changed to 225/55r16 from 02' onwards. It is hard to retrofit an 02' to an 01' because most of the parts are discontinued. Also, for some reason, the rear wheel hubs are different to the point of aftermarket units making sure to refer to the years as 2002-2004 only. Overall, start with a nice stock 02+. Not worth the hassle finding all the parts to retrofit.
