Hey guys i am new to the site so im not sure if this is were im supposed to post this. But anyway i have a 98 RL . I just purchased it . It is only getting me about 8 gallons per mile. I know somethings wrong any guess where i should srart to look. I know the muffler is bad can that be the reason for such poor gas mileage? any help would be greatly appreciated thank you.

Something isnt right. Fix the exhaust.

I just had my belts changed and gas mileage improved. Get a tune up .

If you are driving on the gas all the time, keep the revs low, you are burning gas.

Im getting close to 18 mpg in the city on my 02, if it was 7 id be taking to my mechanic to get looked at. Did you not get a pre purchase inspection with a compression test before you bought the car? Jaydubz has some good advice there
