I'm having a hard time finding the TPMS button on my 2010 RDX. I attempted to google it. And thats saying it's under the steering wheel. But I just don't see it?!

I also had just bought 4 new tires. Not sure if that could be the reason. If I do bring it back to the tire shop. What do I tell them other than my tpms system is malfunctioning, and that I've gotten notification of it ever since I had my tires changed.

There is no TPMS button - the car automatically reads the transmitters in each wheel when you start driving.

Were the valve stems replaced too? Those sometimes need to be programmed.

Play with the top three buttons on the right side of the steering wheel and you should see all four wheels pressure .

Are you seeing a TPMS error light or you just want to double-check the tire pressure?

Chopperpilot Jan 25, 2026 08:05 AM

Hey MrGold , I could use your advice of the very subject now . Yesterday while driving about town the tire icon lit up and then a I got “ TPMS system needs service “ .

New Michelins 4 months ago , system was operating as usual until yesterday . I’m in central Virginia where the temps are lower than usual too . If you have any thoughts I’d certainly appreciate any and all recommendations on this matter MrGold .

I'm not 100% sure? Are all the TPMS sensor original or have any of them been replaced recently? I would think the error is related to one of the TPMS sensor has a weak/dead battery or the sensor has failed? Any of the tires show a blank reading if you can bypass the error message?

Chopperpilot Jan 25, 2026 09:39 AM

As far as I know they’re the original sensors and the readout shows all four show - - on each wheel .

edit: the prior message: TPMS - Check TPMS System is on full display. I have pics just don’t know to post them MrGold yet .

thank you for your reply..

It sounds like you have a TPMS failure. Going +15 years with original sensor sounds like they reached end of life? I would go with OEM and not aftermarket TPMS replacement. I once did aftermarket with Discount Tires and had similar errors randomly, zero errors with perfect readings on next start up, and then only bars for a reading on the next drive.

Thanks for the replies MrGold .. I’ve seen plenty of Toyotas having sensor failures way earlier than mine or others . . I gotta think driving it in 20 degrees and below may have finally killed the batteries .
Thx Again ..

Tpms

After searching for hours can anyone tell me where the TPMS module is actually located without the generic factory images folks ?

^Fwiw, it's not worth tearing apart your dash until you pull the codes and make sure the TPMS module is what needs replacing. Confirm your diag before doing all that work cuz trust me tearing apart the dash sucks.

I’ve been in the business of fixing cars for decades and experienced others replacing parts without a diagnosis. I’m not one of them fortunately.

Thanks for the reply Zeta … I was thinking in advance if I needed to replace the module which now I do not . Yesterday I deflated and reflated the suspect tire ( got up against a curb avoiding a van and broke the bead seal ) and had discount tire repair it at n/c .

With that the wife borrowed my RDX and the system has corrected itself with all 4 wheels are registering again ! Thx Again ..
