New Wheels Pics
Just got my new wheels from the rack today. Here are some shots, (They are shot in garage and at dusk). More pics to follow. Yokohama AVID ENVigor 245/45WR19 on Breyton GTS-AV 19X8.5(-40) Wheels weight was 23lbs. Total new tire & wheel weight 52.5lbs. Stock Enkie weight at removal (2/32nd) 52.6lbs. A nice trade off for all that new rubber. I don't know what the stock Enkies & Michelins weigh in at when they are new, but I’ll take the straight trade any day.

WTF?
Looks great Marco!! Those fenders look scared of the rims.. they should envite them down for a party to make things happy =)
you could take some black vinyl to the center cap and black them out completely
second... you got a weight scale? i am curious on how much stock rims weigh.. and what is the weight of your 19s??
third.. i forgot to ask ya at the meet why you decide on a 45 series instead of a 50 series? wouldnt that throw off the spedo more?

245/45/19 IS the stock size.
I want to find a A--spec center cap in that size black with a raised brushed aluminum A, like the plug wire cover on the TL.

not an SUV ...a Big Hatch
From the tread in the pics, looks like you also need to swap the rt rear wheel with the lt front to get the directional treads going in the right direction. Hopefully you don't need to flip any on the rim.

Holy cow...I didn't even realize I had done that. I have a tight garage at home and could only work on one half the car at a time. When I turned the car around and pulled back in I must of had a moment of dyslexia and switched it up. I'm leaving my desk right now and going out to the parking garage to check it out.

TireRack shipped me 3 tires pointing left (counter-clockwise) and I never noticed. Thanks Big Hatch, for noticing!

Thinking of tracking down some of these for center caps. Trouble is they might be hard to find (CL circa'99)
Anyone got any other ideas?

After much thought and careful consideration about my primary mode of transportation, and its utilitarian uses, I’ve decided not to touch the suspension. After all, it is, in a sense, a truck. With the rack rails it measures 11 inches taller than our 4G TL. If we drop it, it will still be tall, AND I will lose that 6+ inches of ground clearance that got me through the snow a couple years ago. I love the tight low feeling of the TLs SH-AWD, but the wife has been unable to take the primary driveway at her workplace at any angle without dragging the lip of the car. In any case, I think the ’07 RDX set-up is perfect for me. It is a fine SUV, not a show car.

After a fixing multiple screw-ups from the folks at TireRack (balance & direction), the new Yoko's seem to be an excellent compromise. They are very quiet in comparison to the OE Michelin's, and for the most part, are now starting to behave like a real tire. Breakaway is easy with these new all seasons, but very predictable and smooth. This weekend will be a good test of the rain shedding abilities as we our expecting a good storm. Mileage is down 1mpg on average. Overall, I would give them a B+ so far (500miles), with the "+" coming from the low price. It is important to note that the set I have on are "w" rated and do not offer the 60k warranty that the lower speed rated tires have. However I will be happy if we get the 45k promised as they are way better than the MXx4-whatevers that were stock.

Negative notes on the Yokohama's
Now that I've had them for over 1,500 miles, I've got a couple of gripes.
1. There is no wheel protector rib. This makes the tire lighter, but I've noticed a tiny rock chip on the rim of the new black wheel that wouldn't have occured with a WPR.
2. The ENVigors are an odd grey color. This is noticeable in pic on post #25.
3. They are not a "Ultra" high performance tire. They are good, but not "Ultra" good performers.
4. They do not hold a tire dressing well.
I guess you get what you pay for.

They look nice nonetheless. Any regrets? I'm debating between the Envigor and DWS myself. I'm in the NY/CT area an drive about 600 miles a week so need something that will last awhile and handle in the snow/rain.

Well that is the big question! If they don't last the 45k as promised you can bet I will post my gripe here. From the pronounced lack of lateral grip I’m willing to bet that they will hold up to the warranty even with the wear I have noted in my first 2k. It sounds like the DWS may also be a good choice with a 50k warranty. I went with my gut on this one and the signs have pointed to a huge disappointment in the DWS, so I feel justified no matter what ignorestutterMike1981 has to say (not to mention the 15 years longer I’ve been on the road).

7K Update Yokohama Avid Envigor
Total lack of traction below 50 degrees ferinheight. I expected some loss when the temp plummeted, but these Yoko's are a real disappointment. Surprising results considering how well they performed in the water above 50deg.

Im about to pull the trigger on some Envigor (w rated ) or the Prada Spec -X I just got the car 3 days ago and I would like a more comfortable tire than the Michelins. Also want some additional grip.
Any Comments Mr Marco?
Thank you

The Yoko's were certainly a good buy and a better choice than the OEM rubber. However I wish I had spent just a little more and gone with DWS or better like Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus. <Have them on the 4G-TL and they are worth every penny. After-all, it doesn't matter how stiff the sidewall is if you can't get the tire to stick to the pavement. I do not have the "no grip" issue with the Michelins on the TL.
The Prada Spec-X don't come in 245/45R19, so they were not an option for me. Although I see many of them on rigs here in the Pacific NW, so they are popular.
Good Luck.

Unfortunately, the Pilot Sport A/S plus is not offered in the size we need. Snow and heavy rain are not an issue here in SoCal!!
Need some additional steering feel and grip as well as a bit more comfort over the Michelin's. Did the Envigors provide those qualities?
Ride improvement and better steering feel with overall grip is the goal.
We'll probably post for sale the OEM Michelin's once I figure this out, they only have 90 miles on them!
