Getting tires soon, which to choose???

After about 90K miles on these tires, they're beat...

Will be getting tires in about a month. I've already decided to get Michelins, I just cant figure out which ones would be better for me...

Here are the tires I'm looking at...

I'm mainly looking for handling, grip and decent wet performance...

I have the Premiers on my Optima and love them, bit I would've gotten Pilots had they been available in a 215 ratio...

Size is 235 55 R18.

I'm on my 2nd set of Premiers and love them. Pilot *might* grip a little better (I'm honestly not sure if it will), but will definitely not last as long. For what it's worth, I got about 70k on my first set, and they're rated at 60k warranty - so exceeded expectations in that regard.

Thanks!!!

I'm thinking the Premier would be way more practical... I drive about 40K miles a year, so they need to last!!!

Also, I'd like a tire that grips well in wet conditions, which I know the Premier will do...

I think the Pilot is a sport tire, which is better for racing, but we just daily drive the RDX...

I have had the rear end to rotate out on me unintentionally with the current Bridgestone Duhlers, so I don't want tires that will do that easily...

Thanks.

Keep the suggestionns coming, guys!

About to place the order... Any last minute suggestions?

Recently put these on the Mrs. RDX and have been pleased with them so far.

Thanks!

I have no experience with BF Goodrich...

I'm pretty sure I'll still go with the Premiers...

I have them on my Kia and ABSOLUTELY love them!

I got one quote for $986 out the door.

Currently checking with my dealer since I want an alignment at the same time!

Was thinking I was going to go with Michelins as well but I called tirerack.com and asked for their recommendation. I was told the BF Goodrich is what they are recommending to everyone for midsize SUVs now. I was skeptical of the top rating on their site because of the much fewer miles reported, but the price was a lot less and there was a $50 rebate on top of the lower price. Also the wear rating is 660 and you said you drove a lot. One other item of note - Michelin owns BFGoodrich.
Again we haven't had them that long but has been very good so far!

My dealer quoted me $690+tax for a full set of Premiers V rated mounted and another $69 to do the alignment!!!

Very happy with Bridegstone Turanza Serenety Plus.
They can easily go 60-70k miles with proper rotations

Ok, thanks! I still want to stay on the grippy side!

Summer only fun tire for spirited driving

The RDX never sees snow... Well... It did last year, a lot, actually...

I don't need a designated winter, or ultra all-weather set...

If I still lived way up in hilly central Mississippi, then I would maybe need capable all-seasons, but it mainly stays in sub-tropical, flat as a board, Louisiana!

Thanks for posting!

I guess I'll maybe try something other than Michelins one day...

The Michelin Premiers have already been ordered and will be installed tomorrow!

On the other hand, I'll FINALLY not need any major maintenance for a while. Possibly the first time since we bought it 3 1/2 years ago!

It’s all about the UTQG ratings.... compare that and $

Midnight Mystery 07-15-2019 04:52 PM

Sorry for the lack of updates! We had a hurricane nearby and my attention has been on that...

We got the Michelin Premiers last Thursday. It was a little over $500 for all 4 tires, with disposal and the alignment, it was around $800. Not bad at all, IMO!

It drives so well and straight! Steering is perfect at all speeds! It's truly the best it's driven since I got it! :)

Overall. I'm extremely happy! :)

Happy to hear you are happy with your tires. I just came to post that your profile gif has given me nightmares for days.

That is all.

Glad you like your tires. That does seem like a really great overall price.

I was shocked! I got the same tires on my Optima last year from a tire shop and they were like $800, TireRack wanted like $220 each.

You definitely got a steal on that whole tire set & alignment.
