Eibach Springs with OEM or aftermarket shock/struts?
I have +116,000 miles on my RDX and +75,000 miles with Eibach springs+OEM shocks/struts. The ride is deteriorating a little bit on rough surfaces and I think it might be time to change out the shocks/struts. I don't see any leaks or have any bouncing at the corners or either end. It just feels like I'm riding on 24" over bumps on my OEM 18" tires (feel more road vibration in cabin).
Has anyone with Eibach springs have any pros/cons with aftermarket shocks/struts OR just stick with OEM replacements.

Yeah, Koni's are expensive stuff, but very high quality. Even so, I doubt they'd last any longer than your stockers, but rather would provide a decent handling upgrade. If you enjoyed the feel of your stock shocks on springs, some new OEM units are probably the best route to take in balancing handling and cost. KYB also makes quality OEM replacement stuff, but they'll probably cost around the same as well. At that point may as well just stick with Honda parts.

I'm due for 4 new tires and I'm waiting for the HeelToe RDX RSB to come in. I figured I would get everything done at once instead of waiting. I might compare the prices of KYB and OEM to see how the $$ come out. The RDX is seeing commuter duties during the week and grocery wagon on the weekends now; but, I still like to have a little fun with her when I can.

Decided to go with KYB struts in the front and KYB shocks in the rear from partsgeek.com. I also ordered first equipment front/rear sway bar, Moog front sway bar bushing, KYB strut mounting kit, and KYB strut bellows. Also waiting on HeelToe RSB and just ordered new Conti DWS tires. I would be happy to at-least get back to normal handling when she had 50,000-80,000 miles less on the odo.

I ended up switching back to OEM strut assembly and KYB in the rear minus my eibach springs a few months ago. I had, KYB front struts, KYB strut mounts, and eibach springs on the front. I could not get rid of a knocking/popping noise from the front suspension every time I turned the wheel more than 45 degrees that sounded like the springs grinding/moving/flexing sound from the front. I don't know what the exact problem was; but, I suspect the eibach springs were not 100% secured within the KYB strut mounts and they were moving/sliding around on hard turns. I went back to OEM springs to see if those would seat better with the KYB parts; but, same exact noise.
I should have stuck with OEM strut mounts and that might have been A-OK since it worked with zero issues for +5yrs before. I didn't want to dump any more money into experimenting on that theory and just went with OEM strut assembly since I already switched to OEM springs. I'm 100% now with OEM springs, OEM struts, KYB rear shocks, and Acurazine group-buy RSB on stiffest setting. I now have a set of perfectly good eibach springs collecting dust on the garage floor.

$$$$
- Purchased KYB struts/shocks, KYB strut mounts, new endlinks, and group-buy RSB +labor to install with 1st installer.
- back to original installer to correct knocking noise with no-luck.
- 2nd opinion on suspension and they said the front eibach springs were installed left/right instead of right/left. I assumed they only came front/back for install only. No change in noise.
- back to 2nd opinion installer about same noise. He said the eibach springs are not as flat on the end as OEM springs and they might not be seating properly. Switched out to OEM springs to see if this would help with the noise. Same exact noise. Good chance the new parts are starting to get damage because of this tinkering and knocking noise. It was looking like I might be SOL with current KYB parts.
- Decided to just go with entire OEM left/right strut assembly to eliminate any aftermarket and worn OEM parts that might be causing the problem(s). Zero noise, a little softer ride, still feels pretty good in the corners to new RSB.
The 2nd opinion shop did give me break on labor; but, I ended up spending about $1500 for a $500 fix during the whole time. Just wanted to go with the 100% solution and move on to something else. I didn't want to put the eibach springs back on just to have the knocking noise again and have to start all over again. I'm still not 100% what part was causing the noise (eibach, KYB, OEM, RDX or a combo of all 4).
