2008 Tech - First Warranty Repair :(
So, I'm sitting in my week-old 2008 Tech, adjusting some of the personal preferences (my G/F likes the headlamps to stay on after she exits until she gets into the house.)
The ignition is turned on, but the engine isn't running. I'm clicking away with the steering wheel controls, setting left and right, when suddenly up pops a "CHECK ENGINE / EMISSIONS" error message. The navi changes screen to show an even larger ERROR message, and prompts me to connect to ACURALINK to get instructions. I do.
The instructions come across, telling me that my car may be hard to start, exhibit poor gas mileage, and run roughly, and that I should see my Acura dealer ASAP to have the engine checked. (No sierra hotel 1 tango!)
I switch off the ignition hoping that when I turn it back on, the error message may, miraculously, clear. It didn't.
Instead, I had ANOTHER emissions code. (Again with the navi screen scary message, and again with the ACURALINK, and again with the admonition to see the dealer soon.)
So, I decide that there's nothing to lose cranking up the engine (just to see what happens.) I do so.
You guessed it: ANOTHER message. This time the SH-AWD system is fritzed. The SH-AWD light comes on in the dash, and an EVEN MORE SCARY message hits the navi screen. It was all about AWD being compromised, drive slowly and carefully to your dealer... blah...blah..blah.
OFF TO ACURA I GO...
So, this morning, I called the dealer. "Why don't you just swing by and we'll take a look at it without an appointment under the circumstances..." said the assistant service manager.
I smiled, and carefully drove directly to my Acura dealer. I did not pass GO. I did not collect $200.
Four hours later...
CONCERN 51 CLIENT STATES THE CHECK ENGINE AND SHAWD LIGHTS ARE COMING ON
(No, I didn't. They were ON. Why can't they just say the lights are ON?)
CAUSE: P0135, P0408
CODES/OPERATING DATA - RETRIEVE/CLEAR CODES W/PGM TESTER
51-1 PERFORM CVS RELAY / PART NUMBER ACC 39794-SDA-A03, RELAY ASSY., POWER
The techs said the EMISSIONS error and the SH-AWD error were related.
HUH?!
And what would cause these errors to spring into existence WHILE SITTING IDLE IN THE CAR WITH THE ENGINE OFF?!!
Just curious.

man that sucks....my sunroof (im on my 2nd one) is still not fixed and 10X's worse than the 1st one. Apperently, when they replaced the factory one, it may have uncorked a new can of worms.

Some of the problems detected by the PCM will cause other systems to show a code as well. As far as why it happened, If you had the key on and the engine off the battery voltage may have dropped too low. Low voltage will casue a variety of problems as some systems require more voltage to run properly than others. It's common for a new car to have a battery voltage issue depending how long it sat on the lot or if someone left the key on for a long time.

Since this repair I have to say that I'm falling in love with this little ute. There have been no problems worth mentioning, save a little rough idle at the light after a fast acceleration and quick stop.
My g/f drives an X3, and I can't keep her out of my Acura, but you know how that goes.
