2007 Acura RDX AWD Issues Fixed (Maybe)

So a while back I posted that I had AWD issues on my 07 Acura RDX (now with 120,000 miles) what was basically happening was after driving for about 5 mins, the AWD and check engine light would come on, and the car would only send power to the front wheels. Well I went to the dealership today and they did a diagnostic, they said it was the "Knock Sensor ($421.12) which was disabling the AWD. I also had them check on why the battery was draining and they said it was the Hands Free Link (HFL ($742.73) and it was constantly on and it won't go off. I found the part for the knock sensor online (30530-PPL-A01) for $53.00 but having a local shop install it for ALOT cheaper and getting it fixed tomorrow. Hopefully this fixes the AWD.

As for the Hands Free Link(HFL), I found the part online (39770-STK-A01) and I found out how to install it: https://acurazine.com/forums/audio-b...module-873720/

It looks pretty easy to install, but I was wondering if I don't want to purchase another HFL and just unplug the old one so it won't keep draining the battery, would everything work fine just not the bluetooth? Because I never use the bluetooth to connect my phone.

Thank you for your help, I really appreciate it, sorry for the long post. I wanted to post this, so maybe it will help others with this same issue. I will also post after I get the knock sensor fixed.

Thanks for posting the link on where the HFL is located! I have the same parasitic draw issue and I too wonder if just unplugging it would be fine. I never use the bluetooth feature to connect my phone either so I can do without it. I plan on disconnecting it tonight after work. Hopefully, I won't have to jump start her again tomorrow morning. I'll post the results and let you know how she reacts without the HFL plugged in. It should be fine though. Reading through some posts for TLs or MDXs seem to be fine without it being plugged in.

You're welcome, have you had the chance to disconnect the HFL? I think I might do mine today, not sure yet.

So great news everyone, the AWD is still working to this day. I got the knock sensor fixed on Dec. 30th, and haven't had a problem since. So if anyone has a similar problem to what I had, try looking at the knock sensor.

Yes, I was able to quickly and successfully disconnect the HFL! It's been cold as of late (with wind chill its been about 18 degrees over night!) and I was worried that she would struggle to start up early this morning, but she started right up! All I did was un-plug the clip and tuck as you'll see in the attached images. I had to jump start her yesterday morning just to give you some retrospect. I just wish I knew about this a month ago before I replaced the alternator and battery. I'm glad to hear that your AWD is still working after you replaced the knock sensor. Now I'll know for future reference.

I forgot to mention that she runs fine without the HFL connected. No issues with the radio or navigation. No dash lights came on either.

Hopefully your car runs smoothly now without any problems. I just disconnected my HFL yesterday, and it was alot easier than I thought, thanks for the pictures. O btw I forgot to mention in one of the previous post, that it cost me a little under $200 to fix the knox sensor at a local shop around Dallas Texas, in case anyone wants to know. Again I just hope others with these issues find this post and fix it alot quicker than I did, haha.
