Vit Tuned Thread

I made this for anyone who has questions about getting a vit tune Etune for the RDX. I've had a couple people Pm me about how it works and how I like it so far. Its just amazing and smokes the hondata map. The process is very cool, fun and exciting also. I have not had a revision from him that I could not daily drive 45Min each way to my work..thats how good the driveability is during the tuning process. Any other questions just shoot away.

Excellent idea for a thread! Just to verify, one has to purchase and install the FlashPro and then the Etune can be built by VIT, then flashed in via the FlashPro.

TheWrench116 03-03-2015 12:48 PM

correct sir

bshotts 03-03-2015 01:52 PM

Have VIT figured out a way around the torque/boost management issue to unlock full tuning potential??

TheWrench116 03-03-2015 02:42 PM

its out of his hands. hondata has to give us access to the maps for us to be able to modify them.

Why don't they want to do that? Or is it and issue of they don't know how?

TheWrench116 03-03-2015 03:06 PM

right now they are focused on their bread and butter. 8th-9th gen civic.
they sell more of these flash pros in a month then are sold total for the RDX. there are only 3-6 people complaining about the problem so its not a priority.

But we hope to change this.. The more people with custom tuned RDx's that complain the better. I am on my 3rd revision with my dw800's and its getting very fun and scary at times, with how fast this thing picks up steam. Turn around time for a new revision is usually 24 hours and he starts alot of people off on the hondata map then tunes from there. I am going to make a video tomorrow of where my tune is at.

Please follow up with video. I think the best evidence isn't so much dyno pull and charts but simply recording and showing time to boost, revs, and speedo from a stand still on the street. Thanks for sharing!

Ummmm a dyno shows actual results. Not sure how posting a speedo video trumps dyno charts. You can watch back to back videos for hours and try to count how long it takes for 0-100 but a dyno shows real gains right then and there.

Tomtwtwtw 03-05-2015 08:41 AM

Agreed. What doesn't help are a bunch of random dynos from different people with no baselines, as every dyno can indeed read differently. But if one person does a baseline pull, then follows up with a tuned pull on the same dyno under similar conditions, then you have actual, valid results. And since we're focusing specifically on tunes here, you can do back to back pulls just a few minutes apart to compared tuned vs. untuned. I'm going through VIT now, and if one of the car groups around here does a dyno day in the near future I'll try to get a couple pulls in for reference. Don't hold your breath though. haha

I have access to a 4wd dyno that works with our systems and will be getting a 4wd baseline with injectors, tune and CPE intake. Then will dyno again after I install the downpipe and retune. You will highly enjoy your vit tune. Some revisions you won't feel much others are night and day differences. I run only 93 BTW.

I promise your not getting 30 mpg. more like 15. the injector size fools the factory setup into thinking that. it reads injector duty cycle. bigger injector same fuel less time open.

TheWrench116 03-05-2015 10:19 AM

and yeah dynos are the only safe place you can pull through 4th gear so lets keep it safe there people.

Slow98teg 03-05-2015 10:23 AM

I haven't even been to the end of 3rd gear. Too boring and long lol.

TheWrench116 03-05-2015 10:32 AM

get that thing de catted and re tuned!

Slow98teg 03-05-2015 10:42 AM

Yea I know. I have the parts, just not the time. I'm busy getting my car ready for race season.

TheWrench116 03-05-2015 10:54 AM

you mean june? cause that's when its going to stop snowing...

Anyone aware of a way to adjust the fuel economy calc for larger injector flow? Not sure if the dash readout CPU is inside ECU or standalone and fed info from ECU.

Seems like it would simply be a factor adjustment (i.e. 410cc OEM to 600cc would be x1.46 and 800cc would be x1.95).

Certainly feels that way if you are in the midwest or north east!

Slow98teg 03-05-2015 11:39 AM

Fill tank up, reset trip odometer. Drive, fill back up and divide miles by how much gas you put in.

no but I can tell you if your in the 45-46 on the car then your really getting more like 20-22mpg at least on 800cc dw.

rdxchris710 03-05-2015 05:26 PM

i saw 505 miles left after fill up today. Did a oil change and see how it goes. Before it would suck gas and the gauge would go down.. its wayy better than stock but dont trust the dash. I have some new plugs to install to and will keep track from there. looking into run the zdx throttle body on the rwc intake manifold.. seems easy to port match the manifold, but getting off the intake manifold is going to be how hard? Every other tune i have had on my old 2.0t fsi vw motor i lost mileage.. kind of amazed how i gained it vs stock. Ill let ya guys know how the TB upgrade goes when i do it.

Tomtwtwtw 03-05-2015 11:23 PM

If you actually get 500 miles out of that tank...well that'll be impressive. Like 28 mpg impressive. I've broken 450 once - on a full highway run from Phoenix to Los Angeles. And that's on a FWD model. Best of luck to you, but you'll probably end up around 350-400 miles on that tank if you drive carefully.

TheWrench116 03-06-2015 12:06 PM

yeah I was 356-358 and I put in 17.5 gallons. any one else put in 18+ gallons before? just curious to see if I'm the only one.

hypnotini 03-08-2015 07:18 AM

i do my tuning pulls in 3rd with vit i can easily max it out here in co.

TheWrench116 03-08-2015 09:36 AM

yeah. 4th tops out way higher then legal.

hypnotini 03-09-2015 03:08 AM

hell 3rd tops out higher than legal by a big margain. :-P

rdxchris710 03-09-2015 07:53 AM

The mid i s pretty damn close let me tell you. I'm also lean until like 4000 rpms. I refilled the other day and It was up to 525. Stupid me forgot to reset the trip but will do it next time and get a better number. All I know is my gauge doesn't suck down like it used to. 3rd gear pulls I'm at close to 110-115.

bshotts 03-09-2015 10:46 AM

525 miles on a single tank on an RDX? Are you hiding a secondary fuel tank somewhere. That's nearly 29-30 mpg!

TheWrench116 03-09-2015 03:17 PM

he's saying that his range is 525 according to the m.i.d. not his actual mileage.

Tomtwtwtw 03-10-2015 10:09 AM

For those of you going through the process, have you ever had the VSA light come on when you started datalogging? Had that happen to me this morning...as soon as I started the logging the VSA triggered. I turned the car off and on again, restarted the data and no issue after that. Just trying to see if it was indeed related or if just coincidental and there may actually be something potentially wrong with the VSA system.

I also did my front brakes recently, but it has been a few weeks and nearly 1000 miles of driving. If I screwed something up there I imagine it would have surfaced sooner.

TheWrench116 03-10-2015 11:30 AM

no. programing yes. never dataloging just sitting there... that's strange...

Tomtwtwtw 03-10-2015 03:03 PM

Oh yeah, I know the car goes nuts when flashing. Guess we'll see if it pops again.

What year RDX? What is the ignition limit in these areas?

This is happening on all years of RDX from what I've seen so far. If I reduce boost to below a certain point I stop seeing massive ignition retard in that area -- I can email you logs from previous testing if you like.

rdxchris710 03-15-2015 07:14 AM

So I had the vsa light come on this morning on a drive. It was vsa / sh awd. No cel just those 2 lights. It did not restrict the boost but on the awd screen I had no power going to the rear wheels. Pulled over cycled the key and went away. It was very strange.

hypnotini 03-16-2015 03:51 AM

that happens when it trips an over boost
