Hi all, Im new to this forum but I have been reading it for years. Now I have a project and I need help and advice from you. First of all, im average in mechanics not a pro so every details are important since I wanna do most of the modification myself, this is why I will ask question throughout the process.

I own a 2009 acura rdx (non-tech) with 150K on it. After reading alot on the rdx you own, I have some basic part in head to start with. I will post my progression as I buy and install the parts. For the more difficult installation it will be done mars-april 2015. Im from canada quebec and winter is already starting so this is why Ill be buying most of the parts for a spring installation.

For the parts I can install now:

-Hondata flashpro. I have read alot on it and it will be my first upgrade but I have one question, is the tuning for the rdx are all include or you have to buy one every time you upgrade???(exemple: FlashPro Tunes for Honda and Acura | VitTuned Flashpro, KPro & S300 Tuning)

- Air intake, what is best, k&n, cp-e, custom tubing ???

Thanks

I want your gauge cluster, sell it to me! You can take baby steps and buy one thing at a time, you don't have to buy it all at once.

start with the flash-pro and make sure you have a windows based laptop. for every part you change you could get a re - tune. the only time it will be 100% necessary is for a cam change from stock, turbo upgrade, or bigger injectors. BIG changes you will need to get tuned. otherwise you should be good.

Book time is 4 hours. I really depends on your skill level. I recommend the removal of the cv shaft which requires a large breaker bar, axle nut socket and pry bar. It really isn't too bad since the ball joint is bolted on and comes off as a unit.

Here is the Honda procedure.

OR

I pulled the intercooler, half shaft, secondary cat, the dog bone, all heat shields, finally got irritated cut the primary cat at the inlet and it fell out... if you start by doing that it will save A LOT of time and energy.!!!

this is also a really good time to install the ets intercooler and your choice of intakes
if you are going to be reinstalling the factory intercooler. remove the bypass valve and the map sensor and clean it out with HOT soapy water I recommend DAWN hey it takes grease out of your way, or in this case oil residue from the inside of the intercooler.

GOOD luck!!! let us know how it goes!!!

Easy way is by taking off the valve cover and pulling it from the top. I just installed my new turbo and there is no better way.

I have to try this next time. I assume you removed the downpipe before removing the turbo?

Ok I just receive my flashpro and I uploaded the stock tune version. I can't disable the VSA so I don't see the full potential but there is a noticable difference. At 4000 rpm + it pull hard.

I did a datalogging and saw I had 3 knocks on cylinder 3 is it normal ?
Also I have alot of A/F ratio in the red along my datalogging, normal ?

thanks

what is the afr? should be in 12.5:1 11.00:1 range. and the knocks are normal for ours seems to have an overly sensitive knock sensor. on the hondata base map mine would register a lot of knocks on all the cylinders. not so much since I tuned it.

12.5 parts air to 1 part fuel
12.5 : 1

hope that helps in the future
air fuel ratio.

I am parting my car out before selling. If you are interested in wheel spacers, alum pulley, or Konig wheels/tires drop me a line.

i'm selling my atlp exhaust only 1 month old if interested . but I would recommend a professional tune . and lower the vtec point. rdx runs pig rich from the factory. to extact the most power and once you pull the halfshaft and dog bone mount with the transfer case the primary cat falls right out. hope this helps. also ken did you get dyno numbers yet ?

so your going to pay 350 per retune for every part?

thems some deep pockets dude...

if you don't want them to screw you maybe wait till you get the majority of your parts then go get your tune on...

intake your safe

get a tune when you bolt on the down pipe, injectors, and intercooler. that's what I did.
