Pads and rotors

Anyone have any suggestions on good replacement pads and rotors instead of the crappy Oem ones? Need to purchase some soon and was wondering what your guy's input is on the matter.

For what Car?
Why you say OEM are crappy?
I have an -09 TL-AWD and have had my pads on the front for 4yrs now, the car now has 98000+ on it. When I got the car it had 32000 and I took it and had the pads changed and rotors turned. I have had no issues with Acura OEM pads.
I had 98 GSR that I kept for 14 yrs and only changed pads on front twice and once in rear, so not to sure why you are having problems with them.
I also had a 88 Prelude that I changed pads to aftermarket and had to change those every 6 mo (tried to save a lil $ I was only 18 and had School to pay for) But when I went back to OEM I had that car for 11 yrs and only changed OEM pads 3 times.
As you can see I like and will always use OEM pads. I may use aftermarket rotors, but that's it.

He posted in the rdx section. He has a rdx.

The rears are pretty crappy. Since having ours for a little over two years I've had to replace the rears twice. They just dont seem to last. The fronts have been good for us and we haven't changed them yet. TheWrench has aftermarket rotors and pads on his. Not sure on brand. Hopefully chimes in.

Thank you so much for this! I was also thinking why the hell are we talking about tl's, preludes or anything else that IS NOT AND RDX. Then you come in like the fricken voice of reason! I don't know how old my brakes are, but I think they are not too bad for oem brakes!

In because I also need to change mine eventually!

Although it was my mistake on looking at the brakes when we first got the rdx and they needed changed shortly after owning it. But still they haven't lasted as long as my other cars. Normal driving habits too

They aren't great. My friend got this a while ago said they were def an upgrade.
Acurazine Brake Packages - Excelerate Performance - Japanese and European Performance Specialists!!

But was wondering if its better to just get slotted instead of drilled instead.

OP, search this forum for pad and rotor upgrade discussions. There is a couple of hours worth of reading and you will still find no consensus whatsoever. Brakes are very subjective and what one person thinks is total crap, another person will sing praises for.

Well, here ya go. IMO for normal daily driving OEM is fine. When I got my 08 RDX last year with 45k miles, I put on new OEM pads, and took the rotors to a local machine shop to be resurfaced (charged me $20). While at it, I also changed the brake fluid by doing a gravity bleed. Couldn't be happier with the results ever since.

Slotted or drilled are for looks. Although this might stir debate around here....

I believe slotted will do something, however only on the track or other such things and only under extreme circumstances. But even then, I agree, probably a negligible difference. On a side note, I really wonder who pays 10k for porsche ceramic brakes.....

Weird that you've had the rears replaced twice already...I put new OEM fronts on at about 60k miles, and now at 90k I'm still on my original rears.

'11 orig owner new oem front pads at 72k mi. Original rears still good at 98k mi.

No problems here with factory brakes.

Brakes just slow you down. Spend your mod's money on things to make it faster!

Unless you track your RDX slotted/drilled/dotted with an aluminum hat are more about looks. Same with braided s/s lines.

Here is some important brake tech info from Baer Brakes

Joshua, that was meant for the o/p.

That notion does not apply to you when you are squeezing 10/10ths out of it.

It would be cool to see how it does at Auto-X though. (baby test track day)

I'll soon be putting the same pads, rotors, and lines on my RDX that I have on my s2000 (and fresh fluid).

As already noted, the value of drilled, slotted, or drilled and slotted rotors is a point of contention. That said, they have served me well on my car, so I expect no problem with them on my RDX

I just put these on EBCBrakes | EBC Stage 3 Truck/SUV Brakes For 2010 Volkswagen Routan S3KR1111 | Shop EBC Brakes offers Free Ground Shipping on Brake Orders over $50.00!

Put OEM pads and rotors on the rear and a set of braided steel lines.

Still breaking them in.. but they stop great with little to no fade so far.

I am at 105K
On the rear brakes changed the pads twice before the complete pad and rotor change.

Don't know why we go though rear pads so frequently?

For a DD, blank rotors will work fine. Just get a good set of pads.

Good answer,

normal driver-rdx = oem
fast driver-tuned rdx = drilled or slotted rotors and good ceramic pads (I have powerstop fr-z23 RR-z26 complete kit)
Very fast driver-mod rdx(me) = big brake upgrade (k sport or fastbrake) (I ll have to buy want)

Just put on the SS brake lines, EBC redsutff pads, and USR rotors. Put about 250 miles on them and they're WAY better than the stockers: they're also just as filthy os the OEM pads, but I've barely broken them in and i might just be the breaking coating on the pads. I'll wash it this weekend and see what it looks like in the next week or two. I know a lot of of folkes think the SS lines are a waste of money, but I swapped the 5 year old lines on my CBR before i did pads and rotors and it was more than noticeable. Rubber ages guys, and I'm getting older: you decide if your response times couldn't use a little more help...
