New to the forums
I have been browsing this forum for the past month or so, and decided to register. We have owned our 09 black on black RDX for a 1 1/2 now and it's time to add some parts since I will have this beauty paid off in 6 mo. Thank you for all the information provided on these forums

I hope Hondata will allow me to ship direct to them. I am here in Hawaii, and when I contacted their listed dealer, they seem kinda shady as I never heard of this shop, and the guy who answered the number provide on Hondata's website told me he works out of another shop. Meaning he doesn't even have his own shop. I asked him about the tune and he seemed clueless. I can't see myself trusting this so called shop with my ECU.

i think any retailer will take your money... I believe you fill out the form, ship it out to Hondata yourself and pay the retailer.. not sure.
I went to a dealer physically close to Hondata (Church Automotive/Dyno) that drove my car over to Hondata.
any shippers out there have any input on the process?

I thought there was a certain ECU type that could be reflashed by Hondata? I think this includes all 07-08 RDX and certain 09 RDX.
Acura RDX ECU part number RWC-A56-A59

I would hate for you to ship off your ECU for serveral days just to find out they can't reflash your unit.

I don't understand why Hondata is such a pain about this. Why not just send a commission check to the nearest dealer if they feel the need to not cut the dealer out?
Real life example:
I used to work at a company that, among other things, installed media rooms. Our primary screen vendor was Vutec. The company was a very large media room installer, one of the biggest single location in the country, so we were able to be direct with Vutec--we ordered 25-50 screens at a time. Even though I could send the PO's directly to Vutec, the local sales company that repped Vutec for this territory still got paid commission. That's how territorial sales normally works. Why can't Hondata work off of this model?

I thought there was a mid-year ECU change for the 2009 RDX with a different part number? I have to dig around to find the thread that talked about it. I think that is why Hondata listed the ECU part # on the website they can reflash: RWC-A56-A59. There were some 2009 RDX that were still able to get the reflash with the older ECU.
If you have the newer 2009 RDX ECU, you might have to purchase the Hondata ECU instead for $900.
