I took the resonator(snokle thing) off and lost some power in the low end but it def is louder you can hear the turbo spool and the stock bov valve more. I then attached a piece of tubing from the airbox opening leading to the front opening in the bumper..i might be going back to stock i miss my low end.

I'd suggest leave it stock box. If there was a prefabbed mod to do this I'd suggest it, none as of today. There is a heat sheild that will seperate the filter somewhat from the engines temps, it's the K&N typhoon kit.
I believe less cold air is better than lots of hot air theory.
Hot air does not mix as well, cold air has more oxygen per volume in the combustion chamber.

I'm the person that posted the topic about installing a K&N panel filter and pulling the snorkel off the air box. I was flamed for my opinion on getting more air into the engine. Others stated I was getting more air but it was hotter air as compared to before with the snorkel bringing in less air but cooler air. I disagreed that there would be any loss in horsepower as the air is heated as it is compressed by the turbo. Regardless I was in the minority for this opinion.
I have not reinstalled the snorkel and have enjoyed the sound it provides. I do have a Hondata reflash now that increases boost right off the jump.
You could probably do a search, somehow, to find the original post. It was rather long and combustive.
