The shop that did them before said they will do them again but...... The jig is gone and they may need to borrow an old one.

I'm planning to take my downpipe off and wrap it. Maybe I'll have it reproduced while it's off. Can't make any promises with my busy schedule though.

I have a jig to reproduce midpipes but haven't made one for downpipes since the flanges are so unique. If only the flanges were common.

Downpipe is off and being reproduced. Waiting for some DEI titanium exhaust wrap from Amazon so I can get it wrapped and reinstalled. I miss the top end power and throttle response already. PM me for more details.

321 stainless, a must for turbo applications. Mild steel conducts too much heat. Might as well get a batch made at the same time and done right the first time. I'll follow up later.

My mistake, 321 is recommended for uppipes but 304 is suitable for our downpipe application. Going to be 16 gauge 304 stainless to keep the price low.

Target price is $300. We need 10 peeps to make it happen. PM me if you're seriously interested.

Thanks for the support, guys. I will post pics in a week and if you guys like what you see then I'll start collecting.

This will be the only chance to get a SS downpipe for cheap! The price will only go up.

8. alfa75uk. Interested. To those who have these already installed. Is there any downside? e.g. loss of bottom end / mid range torque? Also, I found these gizmos which look pretty interesting for fooling the 02 sensors http://racinglineperformance.com/sho...&idcategory=26

Exhaust will be louder especially at WOT. Slight loss in bottom/mid range torque with power gains in top end. Turbo spools up quicker so the throttle is more responsive.

The O2 sensor gets fooled for a few hundred miles but then it figures out what you're doing and throws a CEL. I have a guy that can tune out the CEL so I'll look into that.

Stock setup but with a defouler like the one alfa75uk mentioned (without spacers). I have learned to live with the CEL. Any cheap suggestions?

we should be able to do some sort of in line electrical resistor, like the subaru's did...no?

...or maybe was that just for the EGT probe in the up-pipe? Hmmm... need to look into that.

Installing the O2 in the midpipe and using an extention patch cable seems to be the best fix.

If they end up looking like that, I can't wait. Is there two O2 sensors? One to monitor engine A/F and one after the second catalytic?

Wow - that set looks pretty good.
I wish I had a set like that! =P

My suggestion is keep one cat because the cat has this smell that comes out from the exhaust. Almost unbearable IMO. (Less in the cold weather - more when it gets warmer)

Thanks for the input guys.

So the plan is to keep the stock two bung locations on the DP in case some don't want a midpipe.

For those who want a midpipe and get the DP at the same time, a third bung+plug will be placed at the end of the midpipe. A Vibrant 45544 flex coupling will be placed near the beginning of the midpipe to reduce stress on the exhaust system (since the ball joint is deleted). The midpipe will be reduced to 2.5" and not have a hanger. Note that non-foulers, gaskets, extension wires and shipping is not included.

Target price for stainless 2.5" midpipe with Vibrant 45544 flex and third bung+plug is $200.

Adding a cat is an option but the cost will be high. Using a different flex coupling is possible too. Let me know if you're interested in a MP and what you guys think.

A little off-topic and why I'm taking apart my exhaust.

I'm working on a custom 3" mandrel-bent stainless super-sleeper exhaust setup:

Downpipe + a/f bung > v-band > midpipe + Vibrant 46688 TurboFlex + O2 bung & non-fouler > 4x Vibrant 1142 3" Ultra Quiet Resonators > v-band > Magnaflow 12267 Muffler > dual double-walled 4" tips

I will be selling my current 3" mandrel-bent mild/alumized steel setup below if anyone is interested:

3" midpipe + Vibrant 46666 TurboFlex > 2x Magnaflow 14419 Resonators > 3-bolt flange > Magnaflow 12267 Muffler > dual double-walled 4" tips

Ok back on topic.

The flanges are cut and I'm waiting for the prototype so I can do a test fit. The jig has been completed already. Prototype should be ready any day now.

The first is an A/F sensor and the second is an O2 sensor to monitor cat efficiency.
